Why lower heating flow can help
A condensing boiler can recover more heat when return water is cool enough, and lower flow temperature can support that. But the system still has to meet room heat loss through its emitters. Weather compensation may vary the target automatically rather than holding one fixed value.
Before any adjustment
Check the exact boiler and controller manuals, system type, vulnerable occupants, cylinder arrangement, design temperatures and whether an engineer has commissioned compensation. Record the original setting and change only user controls explicitly permitted by the manufacturer.
If rooms fail to reach temperature, the system repeatedly faults or the control is unclear, restore the approved setting if safe and seek advice. Do not enter engineer menus.
