As checked on 6 September 2026, Irish public guidance listed a €700 heating-controls upgrade grant. Recheck SEAI immediately before publication and before any commitment.

Confirm the measure

The controls grant concerns eligible heating-control improvements such as appropriate zoning and time/temperature control. It is not a general boiler-replacement grant and is distinct from heat-pump support.

Ask the contractor to identify the eligible measure, equipment, zones, commissioning and documentation. A retail smart thermostat alone may not meet scheme requirements.

Follow the sequence

  2. Check property/applicant eligibility and previous grants.
  3. Apply and obtain the required approval before starting or committing where the scheme requires it.
  4. Use the required registered contractor route.
  5. Complete work to the eligible specification.

Compare net cost honestly

Keep gross quote, eligible cost, confirmed grant and household contribution separate. Do not subtract the grant until approval and amount are documented. Compare any maintenance, subscription or additional plumbing/electrical work.
